Review by hotel critic
Nestled in a stunning area with a picturesque view of the loch, the lodge boasts a spacious and light-filled design, creating a cozy atmosphere ideal for relaxation. The beds were notably comfortable, and the en-suite bathroom featured a fantastic power shower. Cleanliness left something to be desired; the kitchen sink bore tea stains, and crumbs lurked beneath the kitchen bin. Amenities were lacking; the absence of coffee and fresh milk felt rather mean, and I was surprised to find the on-site restaurant closed during my stay. While the decor could use a refresh, it was the overall lack of little extras that was disappointing. For those interested in outdoor activities, the location allows for excellent hiking and fishing opportunities. The nearby village of Killin, only a short drive away, offers dining options like the Killin Hotel, which I recommend. While the Lodge provides an appealing escape into nature, it could benefit from enhanced attention to detail and amenities to elevate the experience further.
